Divine Design: Pursuing Your Passion & Cultivating Your Confidence

When Gracie first asked me to write a post for her blog—to be honest—I wasn’t in a good head space. I asked her to give me a couple of months to regroup, and here I am sharing what I went through with all of you.

As a 34-year-old wife, mother of 2 boys, Physician Associate, goldendoodle mama, influencer, business owner, and daughter of Christ, you could look at me on paper or even on social media and think my life is perfect. AND while I do have an amazing life, and I am beyond blessed, that doesn’t mean I didn’t have to go through things—hard things—to get to where I am today.

I have realized that the older I get, the more secure I have become in myself: who I am, what I have to offer, my strengths, but also where I fall short and can improve. That is the lesson I want you to leave with by the end of this blog—be SECURE and CONFIDENT in the gifts and talents God gave you.

I have always known I wanted to be in medicine from the age of 5. However, my husband didn’t know what he wanted to be or do until his 30s, and that is OKAY.

Can we normalize that?

In our society we are pressured from a young age to know our career path; instead of focusing on your career path, I suggest you focus on solidifying who you are, what you have to offer, and to pursue your passion.

—----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are some lessons I learned in my 20s (and even early 30s) to help me get to where I am today that I want to share with you guys as a woman in a successful marriage, a good mom, thriving in my career, and a relationship with the Lord.

1.

MOST friends are only there for a season or a reason. Do not be afraid to leave behind relationships that no longer serve you; it’s about the quality of the friendships around you, not the quantity that is easy to get caught up in.

2.

Invest in those that invest in you. Choose people who are good for your mental health, celebrate your accomplishments, and let you be you.

3.

Trust in the Lord. I know we have all heard this one before, but over the last 18 months I had to trust in him more than ever, and in the end, I was significantly blessed for doing so. You will reap a harvest if you spend the time sowing it.

4.

If you are secure in who you are, other people’s opinions of you won’t matter.

5.

It is okay to be confident, let me say that again: Have healthy confidence in yourself. Make a list of your gifts and abilities; also, make a list of areas that you can improve on.

6.

Have a daily routine—successful people have certain habits they do EVERYDAY. For me, it’s waking up early, having quiet time with my devotional, and working out before my family even gets up. I must start the day by investing in myself. Even more so, I drink almost a gallon of water every day and eat meal prep to stay on track. I get 8 hours of sleep every night. For me, the healthier my body is, the healthier my mind is.

7.

When you meet the right person/partner for you, your goals will align, and you will grow together. It’s amazing what a TEAM can accomplish.

8.

Surround yourself with the right circle. They can really upgrade your life.

9.

You are either going into a storm, in a storm, or coming out of a storm, but each storm you go through you GROW.

10.

Don’t be afraid to take care of your mental health. If needed, go to counseling, seek help from a physician, and prioritize taking care of yourself. I went through a season like this and lost some friendships during that time, but I came out stronger mentally than I ever have been.

I want to thank you for taking the time to read my life lessons and I truly hope you are about to walk into the most abundant, balanced, wealthy, and successful season of your life filled with love.
